Hi! My name is Jamal Pollok. I am an intermediate powerlifter with a love for the sport. This blog details my powerlifting life and my strength journey, from humble beginnings, and what I learn along the way. I talk about programming, exercise selection, strength theory, and more.
Who I Am
I started like many others: with terrible form, cheap equipment, and nothing in the way of instruction save for an endless supply of mediocre-to-amazing YouTube guides.
I’ve learned a lot, and plan to learn even more. This website is dedicated to helping others figure out where they should start their powerlifting journey. It’s also there to help people who just want some advice on how to get strong. And it’s a place for me to talk about my powerlifting life, my achievements, my goals, and my failures.
What This Is
If you’re looking to pick up build strength or muscle, or have been training for a while but are stuck, then I’m here for you. I’ve personally come across these questions and problems countless times. I’ve done the research on how to overcome them so you won’t have to. For the most part.
Lifting is still very much an individual sport, and your mileage may vary in some respects. We’re also all in this to learn, to improve, and to get better on our own merit. This powerlifting life is my own – and you lead yours. If you’re a beginner or an intermediate lifter and want to put more weight on the bar, you’ve come to the right place.
What This Isn’t
I won’t cover Olympic weightlifting or CrossFit on this page. One is a specialized sport requiring the attention of a coach and hours of practice and repetition on the barbell. And the other is CrossFit. Which just isn’t my cup of tea. It’s all about powerlifting and strength training here, folks.
The resources here are meant to give people an accessible start to strength training, for fitness and for powerlifting. I work hard to dispel myths, source my claims, and explain my thoughts. I’ll be working on providing exercise and product guides, talking to experts many years my senior, and accumulating as much knowledge as I can into this sweet haven of mine. Welcome to my Powerlifting Life.
